California sets payer credentialing deadlines
Plans must acknowledge an application within 10 business days, decide within 90 days, and grant provisional approval if they miss the deadline.
California AB 1041 requires plans and insurers to acknowledge a credentialing application within 10 business days and decide on a completed application within 90 days, and to grant provisional approval for 120 days if they miss the deadline (with exceptions).
What to do: California practices should start documenting complete-application dates now so they can use the provisional-approval right once the law is operative.
