Certified is not accredited: how to check a CVO's NCQA status
A CVO's marketing and the NCQA directory do not always agree. We record each firm's status straight from the directory: certified (and for how many elements), accredited, scheduled, expired or denied.
How do you check a CVO’s NCQA status?
Look it up in NCQA’s certification directory, not on the CVO’s website. NCQA lets a CVO be certified for any subset of up to 11 verification elements, and a delegating plan gets automatic credit only for the elements certified. Credentialing accreditation is a different program from CVO certification. The directory also shows scheduled, expired and denied statuses, and our census found firms whose websites claim a status the directory does not show.
Example of partial scope: Propelus announced in May 2026 that it earned CVO certification in 7 verification categories, valid through April 27, 2027. That is real certification, but not full 11-element coverage.
How we score it: NCQA status on every Managed Services listing comes from the directory, re-pulled each quarter, with the element count shown.
